MGI 360 Ratings - Tacton in Configure-Price-Quote (CPQ)

MGI 360 LogoSUMMARY: We are initiating coverage of Tacton in the Configure Price Quote (CPQ) market with an MGI 360 Rating of 53 and a Neutral outlook.

OPINION: Tacton CPQ solution is aimed squarely at complex manufacturing and can support omnichannel commerce across a spectrum of Engineer/Assemble to Order use cases, often with sophisticated quote visualization requirements (2D, 3D, Augmented and/or Virtual Reality). Tacton offers a near out-of-the-box integration with CRM solutions from Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics and with SAP ECC and SAP VC for ERP. Beyond that, the product features an extensive API capability for white label, headless operation. Tacton has one of the strongest teams of product configuration experts in the industry. Tacton price editor and proposal generator stand-out with better than average capabilities. The CPQ product is further differentiated through capabilities for Industry 4.0/Smart Manufacturing, CAD/CAM integration, Analytics and some limited eCommerce capabilities. Tacton’s partner network is quantitatively modest but qualitatively competent.

USE CASE: Complex manufacturing organizations managing omnichannel challenges for Engineer-to-Order products primarily in Europe and North America.

COMPANY DESCRIPTION: Tacton Systems AB provides an omni-channel CPQ Solution aimed at medium to large global manufacturing companies. Tacton leads with a Product Configuration Engine that handles highly complex Engineer-to-Order use cases combined with visual configuration capabilities (2D, 3D, AR, VR) and Design Automation and integrated with Salesforce CRM and SAP ERP platforms. Tacton came to market in 1998 in an on-prem configuration, and now is sold as an all-cloud solution. In 2017 GRO Capital and KIRK Capital (both of Denmark) bought the controlling stake in Tacton and infused $12 Million into the business. The company has over 150 employees, with headquarters in Sweden and the US and regional offices in Germany, Poland and Japan.

COMPETITORS: Apttus, ConfigureONE, ExperLogix, FPX, KBMax, Oracle
