Zuora is the poster child for "subscription economy" billing management in the cloud. It is the most visible, with the largest amount of funding and field momentum. It is often the company most often cited as a competitor and most often criticized by competitors. While there are today offerings in this market that have more sophisticated technological capabilities Zuora seems to have hit the right market at the right time with the right combination of product capability, aggressive marketing and channel. The lead that Zuora does have is still very slim and compeitors MetraTech and Aria Systems, are close behind.
